About the artist:

Meredith bills herself as a comedian artist and her work clearly demonstrates how much fun she has using and stretching many materials. She began as a painter and photographer and continues to incorporate paint and photographic imagery into her work whether it is on fine silver or fabric. The elements that excite and focus her work are story, color and design combined with a variety of materials that often are a challenge to bring together into one piece.

As an artist with multiple jobs focused on mentoring other artists in a variety of ways, Meredith is the EDGE Program Coordinator, (EDGE is a 50 hour professional development program for artists) for ArtsNow, Edmonds Community College and has developed a career as a professional teaching artist locally, around the U.S. and in Europe. She is a faculty member at Bellevue College, Edmonds and South Seattle Community Colleges and Kirkland Arts Center and for Interweave Press, a publisher of multiple trade magazines such as American Artist and books.

As Gallery Coordinator for 3 years, Meredith helped develop the ArtsNow Gallery including curating “The China Exhibit” (2006), “The Art of the Process” (2007), and “Women in the Mix” (2008).

Meredith has been a featured artist in exhibits coast to coast, on DVD, television, and in books and magazines including the PBS show ‘Beads, Baubles and Jewels’, Indie Arts DVD magazine, “Polymer Clay Exploring New Materials and New Techniques” (Rockport), and on the Edmonds Community College cable television channel for many years. Her work and writing continue to be featured in publications such as the December 2008 issue of Jewelry Artist magazine and she is currently working on two book projects, one of which will be available in February 2009.
